Valentine Sacks

Not really a "holiday" I get all jazzed for, but we are speaking Valentine's Day around here. Every day (starting today) we are going to be making Valentine crafts until the 14th. I remember entering first grade and getting a lot of "cool" Valentine supplies to make my very own Valentine sack.

My day was not going so great with my two little ones. Hudson was having the Monday blues.. which means.. Daddy has gone back to work and he really wants him to come back home to play. So Monday's are generally tough around here. So, I went into my supply cases and VOILA! I had all the materials to make some Valentine bags.

Now, I have to fill them. Each night I plan on adding a little note OR treat to add to his bag. Should be fun!

This really doesn't take a whole lot of planning: You need some bags, glue, glitter, some felt or paper, whatever really works. Kids really are not particular on their supplies.. they just like you sitting down with them to Craft!

The hardest part of crafting with kids is getting the space ready. We really need a bigger craft table! OH WAIT! We do have a bigger table, it's just covered in craft supplies. OOPPS!

Crowned King of the House

When you are welcoming a baby into your family, there has to be thought as how to make your other child feel loved and that things are going to go on as usual.. well.. kind of. My little guy has a love of trucks. Shocking to us, but he does. I found it fitting to make him a crown with a dump truck and traffic cones. He used this as a chef's hat to make me "dinner" the other night.

I will most definitely be making the boys birthday crowns.

I wanted to share a Christmas present for my son. I am a firm believer that toys don't really need to be gender specific. My son loves trucks, he does. He also enjoys his kitchen and pink stroller. The last time I checked: men cook and push strollers ;-) So, when he showed an interest in a dollhouse, I was excited to come up with something. I wanted to make it modern and a little less cutesy (something I would have done had I a girl).I ended up finding this dollhouse at a second hand store. The woman was closing her store and I ended up buying this for $8! That's a true story there!




I hated the pink roof, so I took some of our house paint and started painting. I also tried to touch up the places where there was marker.


And Voila! Our dollhouse, in which some one taught Huddy to call it a "toyhouse" But whatever. I added some carpet and reupholstered some old dollhouse furniture we had here at home.


I found some cheap little boxes at a craft store and made loft style beds. The beds cost $.70. Add some paint and covers and there you have a nice bed.


Our house even has a helicopter pad on it. Made By Huddy.

Some gardening.


And of course, some crazy haired plan toys dolls.


This "toyhouse" gets a lot of play time at our house. Sure makes a momma proud!

Baa Baa Sheeps

Seeing that I hear, on average, the Baa Baa Black Sheep song about 600 times a day.. I knew it was a good idea to make a sheep. I started with Nolan's (our little baby that hasn't even entered the world at 40 weeks 1 day). His sheep is the gray one. I didn't really anticipate making two, but Hudson said to me "when mommy all done making Nolan's sheep, Mommy make Huddy one too!" Well. I had to. And so glad I did.




Baa Baa Black sheep has made his way into the favorite animal crew. Makes a momma very happy :)

December Presents Round Three

My friend, Alyssa, had a little boy a few months back. He is so super sweet and I can't wait to meet him one day. For his Christmas present, I made him a little hat to keep him warm in the East Coast winter. It was my first time using ear flaps. I need to make more of these.


For Alyssa and family, I made homemade napkins. I love making and using cloth napkins. Something about them.. just so pretty! and they look great on a table.



Once I find a new rhythm with two kids, I plan on selling the napkins in my Etsy store. Probably come Spring or Summer.

December Presents Round Two

Continuing in my theme to have people open their gifts WAY before Christmas... I bring you some more hand made holiday goodies.

These were made for my sister in law and her two little ones.

For my sil, I did another apron. She loves the cook and makes some of the most amazing meals. When we lived closer, I would love the thought of going to her house to devour one of her many delicious meals. I know she will put this apron to good use.



For my nephew, I was trying out a new sweater pattern with some very great yarn. I love this yarn and have more things to show you from it. When I finished knitting it, I was reluctant to add anything to it, but knew that a 4 year old would be WAY happier with a little something.. enter the bike design (made of felt).


And, his birthday is this month... same day as mine to be exact (I will never forget his bday ;-) I made him a felt pencil/crayon/marker holder. It was my first time making this and I so enjoyed it. Huddy has one waiting to be opened now.





Last but certainly not least, is my niece. I knit her a little dress and bought her a pair of adorable leggings (not pictured). Oh I love making girlie things! Probably a good thing I am not having a girl ;-)
