No Guilt Cupcakes!
Saturday I got an order on my Etsy site. To my heart's delight I was being asked to make a hat and onesie for a little baby girl. The only direction was something cute for a little girl, for the parents that have everything. Well, thinking of little baby girls, I immediately thought "cupcake!" I dunno why.. but I did. I was so happy to find an adorable, organic yarn at the knitting store that I have been wanting to try for some time. I was so happy that the hat turned out looking like a cupcake itself! Dee-lish! What an adorable little set.
After this order, I felt motivated again to start picking up the needles. I have updated my etsy store: Made By Lora Etsy and have resumed working on an adorable present for my dear friend Alyssa (she is due in August!)
Enjoy!

A birthday party...
Huddy's friends are starting to turn 2! It's super hard to believe that our little ones are already making their way in to toddler times, but here they are.
Huddy's friend, Chloe, is the first one of the group. I wanted to try my hand at making her a little skirt and top. I want one of these skirts for myself!!! It was the cutest thing, once she opened it, she immediately wanted to wear the shirt. So adorable!

I never Thought...
(if you are on my babyhorvath blog, I apologize for the double post)
I never thought for one second I would be so excited about a new mattress.. until.. we bought these amazing mattresses at Earthsake today. You have to check out their site or their store.. it's heavenly. Website: Earthsake.
2 weeks to wait, but it's so worth it.
We walked out with:
- A twin mattress for Huddy because we are going to make up his toddler bed and get him off the floor. A queen size mattress for us. Bunnies not included. A little info: The Tranquility cotton innerspring mattress is eco-friendly - covered with layers of 100% pure natural cotton (unbleached and undyed) tufted to natural cotton ticking and cover. Our natural "Green" cotton (which unlike most cotton is never bleached or dyed) is the secret ingredient in this mattress, which is handcrafted for healthy sleep. This is our budget, non-toxic, natural & eco-friendly mattress not only made in the USA but made right here in California so our carbon footprint is extremely small compared to most mattress dealers selling mattresses made in China and other places all over the world. Unfortunately, our mattress is not certified Organic, but we were not really hung up on that.
-Then we decided on some wool pillows. Just pure organic wool inside that comes from local farms in Sonoma County, California
I am very excited. I try to have an Organic/Natural diet, use chemical free body products and use cleaning products to keep my family free of chemicals. This was naturally our next step. I am so excited!

Finally
I have impatiently been awaiting for my dish soap to run out. I have been wanting to make my own soap..it's so easy and so much more environmental.
Making your own soap also helps you know what you are using. My goal is to make all my cleaning supplies. Using simple ingredients like Dr Bronner's Castile Soap, Borax, Vinegar and Baking Soda. It makes sense, no?
Go, pick up your cleaning supplies and read the ingredients. Chances are you can't pronounce half of the ingredients, and even if you use things like Seventh Generation, there are trace amounts of really bad things.. and using a plastic bottle every time!!!!! Well.. don't get me started.
Here's the soap a made:
2 cups Dr Bronner's castile soap. I used the Peppermint smell.. so lovely!
1/2 cup water
.....that's it..... gasp!
I used to buy Seventh Generation until I really started thinking about the fact that I was going through a plastic carton every month or so... and spending $3 a bottle for that. Also, even though this is all natural, doesn't mean that all the ingredients are natural.. you have to be careful with that one.
So I bought this soap
AND then I realized it came in bulk so now I can refill it!!! LOVELY!
More homemade cleaning supplies to come.
